WHAT TO EXPECT

During our 5-day Song Production Masterclass, you’ll have unparalleled access to the skills and expertise of Sylvia Massy in one of mumbai’s in-demand studios. You’ll follow Sylvia Massy as she leads you through the different stages of producing and recording a song (Artist TBC) in Bay Owl Studios. The first and last days will be filled with curated partner workshops, sessions and gear giveaways. On day three you begin the Song Production Masterclass with Sylvia Massy at Bay Owl Studios, where DIVINE, KSHMR, Shankar Ehsaan Loy, Amit Trivedi, Ranjit Barot, Armaan Malik, Jay Sean, Anuv Jain, Lost Stories, Karan Kanchan, Ankur Tewari, Vir Das, Sona Mohapatra, Vishal Dadlani, Pentagram and many more have all set foot.

Then we’ll wrap up with a debrief to review and digest what you’ve learnt throughout the masterclass.

Breakdown of the five days:

Day 1 – Specially curated industry workshops / mini-masterclasses / discussion and gear giveaways from event partners

Day 2 – Recording

• Introductions & meet the team
• Recording session set up – studio signal flow and patching, the recording path, console considerations.
• Microphone selection, positioning, and the recording path.
• Session management in Pro Tools
• Production considerations (tempo / use of click track / song mood, arrangement & dynamics)
• The recording path – console settings, EQ, dynamics, outboard, plug-ins.
• Recording technique – drums, bass, guitar (acoustic and electric), piano / synths / keyboard

Day 3 – Recording

• Recording & technique – lead vocals, backing vocals, bass, guitars, drums and percussion, indian instrument elements.

Day 4 – Mixing, Mastering & Review
